                                                Explorations on Psychosynthesis and Shamanism

"When we remember what we're really supposed to do in life, it can restore our health. When we're able to remember what all of humanity is supposed to do, starting right now, from this moment, we can heal the world." James Redfield, The Tenth Insight

I'm Sparrowhawk, also known as Jay Ray. Working in the field of Psychosynthesis since 1984, I built a busy practice in Sydney Australia where I had studied. I moved to the Blue Mountains in 1987, practicing there, until I moved to Dunedin in the South Island of Aotearoa/New Zealand in 1996. Coming here on holidays in 1992,  I  was so struck with the beauty of the Otago Peninsula that I moved here, selling everything I had in Australia. The spirit of  this place engendered in me an awakening that consolidated many years of moving towards Shamanism as a way of thought and life. However,  I had no idea what the Universe wanted of me here, only that it was right for me to come. It has continued to unfolded whenever I have reached that place of readiness for it to do so. In 1999, I designed and directed , the  Focus Transpersonal Therapies Psychosynthesis Training, in Dunedin, followed by a period of several years writing and producing radio programmes on Psychosynthesis.  That period produced  two books: one on Psychosynthesis, The Way Through- A Guide to Psychosynthesis in Everyday Life  and one pictured below, on eco-shamanism called.........

"Reweaving the Web, A Shamanic Journey of Connection" released August 2008, explores the way our modern concepts have separated us from the Web of Life and outlines how we can reconnect once again It contains guided  shamanic journeys, helping us look more deeply at the problems and solutions on an energetic level.  Please click the link above or book cover to see sample chapters or purchase the book. Now here in 2009, it had the honour of being placed 3rd in the Ashton Wylie Book Awards in Body Mind and Spirit, an honour for which I am deeply grateful.

"The Way Through-A Guide to Psychosynthesis in Everyday Life" is my second book, (incidentally the first I wrote). It explores Psychosynthesis, a very elegant transpersonal method of healing our inner self, our soul. Its experiential contents helps that exploration at the readers own pace, and is based  on the course I developed in 1999, and also on 23 years of experience working with clients in private practice. It is a workbook that contains loads of experiential exercises and diagrams to assist you to work with your own growth issues. I am excited to have launched it into the world. It was also privileged to be short listed for the Ashton Wylie Awards and came in 5th place in 2010. Two in two years. Wow! Whoever would have believed it possible?

Together these books represents my life's work! Over the years I have written  profusely on many topics pertaining to growth and development of all  kinds. I am a political activist. I don't believe we can change ourselves and leave the world as it is. You will find my earlier articles, as well as more recent ones ranging over a large field, from aspects of Psychosynthesis, and Shamanism, which I have found wonderfully connected, through to the Iraq war. I look at issues surrounding the political and environmental world in which we live, sharing my feelings, thoughts, hopes and concerns. I hope for a time when spirit (not necessarily religion) and world governance will walk hand in hand. But it seems we have a way to go yet. I know it will come.

On my personal journal  pages, I share with you my spiritual and political journey. Though I have not been back to them for some time, there is much to recommend them in the pages to date. The learning that I received  from my internal musings is ongoing, as I commit to traveling my life's path. What I experienced, and came to know, may be of service to you on yours. Please stop by, and stay awhile as I talk my stories. I have stopped updating for the time being but may pick it up again if the time is right. If you would like to share  your own stories, please feel free to contact me on the link below. I would love to hear from you. You can here my voice by listening to some of my audio.

I have commenced a Newsletter  on my blog that is updated regularly outlining my recent developments and opportunities for you to work with me if you feel inspired to. If you would like to go on my Newsletter mailing list please email me and let me know and I will add your details.

For a time I was involved with others, in the beginning stages of building intentional community on a section of Maori lease land that we were negotiating with the local Maori families. This process was long  and finally become to unwieldy to continue. It was a good experience that I would not have missed but will probably not attempt again, though the concept of intentional community holds much for me and offers many solutions in the future of the world. You can read about our journey with that process at www.gaiamoana.org.nz

My creativity is currently flowing well (most of the time). I am excited by what is occurring when it does, and patient when it doesn't. I am also committed to questioning the current Western ethos that has us too busy to develop our souls journey. There is virtue in slowing down. After all, we can only be true to ourselves as quickly as we can find out who we are. That is often more than enough work to do in itself.

This website is part of my outpouring of personal creativity and process. In it I let my soul take flight! Life is a continued path of growth, and on the way I wish to share some of my road with you . Welcome!!!!!!!!!

 Blessings Jay!
