Declaration Towards Peace by Sparrowhawk “We have become prisoners of the taking-mind. When we take without asking, that is arrogance. When we take more than we need, that is gluttony. When we take and do not give in return, that is self-destructive greed. When we take and have no concern for the consequences, that is stupidity. When we take, and take, and not see the end of that taking, that is ignorance. When we lay claim to the planet and see it as our private domain, and then proceed to destroy it-that is insanity”. After having spent my whole life in search of Peace and Justice, I have come to this conclusion: Peoples of Peace must refuse to follow the ways of the War Lord who is the lord of death. We must turn again to the women's way of the Nurturer, which is the way of life, to bring balance between them. Sadly our men-folk, by and large, have listened to the War Lord for a way of being men. I say: "This is not what a man is!" He also is a carer. He must be, because if he cares not, there is no place for him in a living planet. We must all care. If we care, then we must turn from the ways of death. Death will come to us all in its own appropriate time. If men continues to take control and promote it, there will be no life left. Better to chose not to reproduce at all, than to have those offspring die in violence! Either way, we end. "Not with a bang but a whimper". I believe there is another way. Both the women of the world and the peace-loving men MUST band together. Once together, we must resist our inner tendency to control, and replace it with co-operation between us, no matter how we are encouraged otherwise. We must find another way between us which is the AND. We must turn from reproducing the species to first saving the species . We must put our energies into saying NO enmasse for awhile. How can we bring children into this world as it is, as their inheritance? No, we must make this world right. You and me. Now! For us and for our children's children. However long it takes. We must peacefully rise up in our millions, not to march, but to resist. To STOP! Stop buying their products. Stop voting in their governments. Stop breeding soldiers and victims: to turn away from their world and create a new one alongside the old one, and keep at it until the old one shrivels and dies through lack of interest. We must do this together: women and peace-loving men, indigenous people of all colours and tribes, elders, children and parents. Another world is possible but not through the political channels. Not through due process. We must rout out all their insidious bribes, and turning away from them, live our New Way. We must become New Tribes, and institute a new Council of Tribes to co-operate in running a New World. We must honour our differences, not try to make us all the same. But we must chose to talk, not fight, until we find that New Way. And we must forgo the idea that we know best for others, whether that is men for women, white for coloured, religion for religion. The only right way is the way that works for all in peace. We must make finding that our priority. But we must do so separate from current power systems. Despite what they tell us, they are not democratic. Even if they were, democracy itself is hierarchical. Some lose while other win. We need consensus, so that all have a voice, not majority rules. Majorities are not by their nature, benevolent. History shows majorities can be just as corrupt. We need a New Way. A way of peace for all, by all. Consensus may take longer to make decisions. But what the heck, if we save the planet and the species, we have eternity. Updated
